San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of two men accused of robbing an 85-year-old man after persuading him to give them a ride from a Northwest Side Costco in late August.

The incident happened Aug. 28 at the Costco in the 5600 block of UTSA Boulevard, according to a news release from Crime Stoppers.

Investigators said an older man approached the victim in the store’s parking lot and asked for a ride to a nearby pharmacy. The victim agreed and drove the man to a Walgreens, where another older man joined them, police said.

Police said the pair then took the victim’s phone and forced him to drive to a bank, where they coerced him into withdrawing a large amount of cash.

Fearing for his safety, the victim complied.

Once the suspects got the money, they fled in what police described as a white 2006 Ford Explorer.

Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of San Antonio at 210-224-STOP (7867), use the P3 Tips app, or visit www.sacrimestoppers.com

Tips are anonymous, and cash rewards are available only for information submitted directly to Crime Stoppers that leads to a felony arrest.
