SAN ANTONIO – A child exchange turned violent when an argument between a mother and father escalated into an assault and stabbing, leaving the father injured and a second suspect on the run.

Around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, police were called to a reported cutting near the corner of Iowa Street and St. Anthony Avenue, outside of a local YMCA location.

The victim was described as a male in his 20s who came to pick up his child. During the exchange, the mother and father got into an argument, and the mother began physically assaulting him.

Officers at the scene say a friend of the mother then joined in and began stabbing the victim before fleeing the area, using the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was stabbed in “multiple, multiple spots,” and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The mother was in custody, and investigators were waiting to speak with several witnesses. No charges have been filed as of yet.
