KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Playing its third game in five days, Kim Caldwell’s 21st ranked Lady Vols took to the Summitt floor Thursday night looking to stop the bleeding following consecutive losses to #4 Texas and 17th ranked Ole Miss.
It certainly wasn’t the start the head coach had hoped for, watching her team fall behind 10-0 to start the game.
But the Lady Vols would rally and pull to within five points in the 2nd quarter thanks to a big three pointer by Janiah barker.
And five points would be the difference at the break with the Aggies leading Tennessee 47-42.
But the third quarter was unkind to the home team. The lady Vols went seven minutes without a field goal while watching the Texas A&M lead grow to as much as 9 points.
The Lady Vols cut the Aggies lead down to 2 points in the 4th but Texas A&M held on for a big road win to pick up their 4th SEC win while the Lay Vols fall to 17-9 overall and 8-5 in SEC play.
It’s back on the road Sunday for Tennessee as the ladies travel to Norman to take on Oklahoma.
