The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has officially unveiled its new “Operation Zero Traction,” which is meant to crack down on illegal street races and parking lot takeovers.
According to Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, the operation involves 16 other agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and the Houston Police Department.
The primary targets of the operation will be those driving recklessly on highways and attempting dangerous stunts, as well as the sort of parking lot takeovers and unofficial car shows that have led to other criminal behavior here in the city of Houston.
Major Anthony McConnell with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office spoke about the operation at a press conference today, saying: “There’s a lot to offer here in Montgomery County, Harris County, and Walker County. We have things that your friends and family can do that do not include racing on the highway, taking over parking lots, or taking over intersections and endangering people.”
