Lubbock High on lockdown following bomb threat

  • February 20, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – We want to update you on the active situation at Lubbock High. All students have been evacuated to our Central Office, 1628 19th Street. At this time, you may come to Central Office to be reunited with your children. Please enter the building through Door 9, which is the door facing Avenue Q on the west side of the building.

Once you are in the building, you will need to provide identification to pick up your children. You will also need to be on the approved pickup list for your child. If you do not have identification and/or you are not on the pickup list, your child will not be released to you.

If your students were at the ATC (3201 Avenue Q) or AgriSTEM (102 Quaker Avenue) campuses for first and/or second period, they were held at that location, and you can pick them up there.

We understand this news may cause concern, but please be rest assured that all safety protocols are being followed. This is an active situation, and we are taking every precaution to ensure students, staff and the surrounding community remain safe.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available and notify you as soon as it is safe to resume normal activities.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this situation.

We want to inform you that Lubbock HS received a bomb threat this morning. There is also a possible secondary threat outside the building. As a precaution, we are holding the campus in a LOCKDOWN protocol at this to ensure staff and student safety. Local law enforcement is on site and are conducting a thorough investigation. Please refrain from coming to the school at this time to allow authorities to manage the situation effectively. We will update within the next 20 minutes regarding possible evacuation and reunification processes. We will continue to provide updates as they become available and notify you as soon as it is safe to resume normal activities. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this situation.
