TEXAS — Hope springs eternal as Texas’ Major League Soccer (MLS) teams begin regular-season action Saturday. All three Texas teams, Austin FC, FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo FC, will kick off their season schedule on the same day.
Austin FC will play against Minnesota United FC at Q2 Stadium. FC Dallas will host Toronto FC at Toyota Stadium, and Houston Dynamo FC will take on Chicago Fire FC at Shell Energy Stadium.
Meanwhile, according to an article in Sportico listing the financial value of all teams in MLS, Austin FC is the highest-valuated team in Texas. Austin’s only professional sports team added 5% to their total value for a bottom line of $910 million, ranking them seventh overall in the MLS. Houston Dynamo FC is worth $600 million, placing them at 22nd on the list. FC Dallas is worth $555 million, which leaves them at 27th.
The most valuable team in MLS is Inter Miami CF, the home of superstar Lionel Messi, and worth $1.45 billion.
