Halftime in Austin’s special Austin FC show just got a little more star-powered, with familiar local favorite Mélat set to take center stage before the match.
Austin FC taps Music Monday alum Mélat to sing anthem before weekend match
One of the biggest pre-match moments at Q2 Stadium is the national anthem, and it’s also become a major platform for Austin musicians to showcase their talents in front of 20,000-plus fans. Many of the performers have also been Music Monday alumni.

Now, this weekend’s anthem singer has been announced: Melat, an Austin-bred, Ethiopia-rooted R&B artist known for her one-of-a-kind voice. She’s also a familiar face to both Austin FC fans and “We Are Austin” viewers.
Melat is set to sing the national anthem tomorrow at Q2 Stadium. Fans can also catch her performing her song “Wave” on the “We Are Austin” stage.
