SAN ANTONIO – Congressman Joaquin Castro is leveling new allegations about conditions inside the ICE detention facility in Dilley, saying pregnant women are being kept out of his view.
Castro detailed the claims in a video he posted minutes after his latest visit today to the Dilley Detention Center.
In the video, Castro said there may be as many as eight pregnant women currently inside the center and alleged they are being hidden from him.
“They are hiding the pregnant women from me,” said Rep. Castro. “There apparently are about eight women who are pregnant in Dilly right now; she’s so far along that they can’t fly her out into Puerto Rico.”
Casro has also said that despite claims of detainees being provided with adequate medical care, the congressman claims that he has yet to see a sufficient number of people being treated.
I told you that when I first went to Dilley, they showed me all these medical rooms and offices and all that, exam rooms, but there was nobody there, there was nobody in there, there weren’t patients.”
