SAN ANTONIO – A local high school was placed into lockdown as police investigate a report received by 9-1-1.

On Friday afternoon, Harlandale ISD announced that Harlandale High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while law enforcement responded to a report received by 911.

According to Harlandale ISD Communications Manager Director Melinda Garza, students and staff are safe.

The San Antonio Police Department released a statement, saying that they are investigating reports of an alleged firearm on campus.

At this time, there has been no confirmed suspect or gun located,” said SAPD Public Information Officer Camelia Juarez. “Officers are currently doing a standard protective sweep as students are dismissed from campus in a controlled manner.”

The campus remains on lockdown as law enforcement continues to review the situation on site.

The district will continue to provide families with updates as additional information becomes available.
