Two Fort Worth businesses are receiving five-year tax abatements for new offices and warehouses on the east side after city approval.
Both companies — MA-BD LLC and K5 Holdings Group LLC — plan to build businesses within neighborhood empowerment zones, which are intended to promote economic development, housing and quality services in east and south Fort Worth. Business owners who build or rehabilitate properties within such zones can apply for property tax abatements, fee waivers and release of city liens.
Their tax abatement requests were approved by the Fort Worth City Council on Feb. 10. Those abatements would start in January 2028, according to city reports.
MA-BD LLC officials plan to construct about 14,450 square feet of office and warehouse space at three adjacent properties in the 1100 block of East Daggett Avenue at Pine Street. Construction is expected to cost about $2.1 million.
The city estimates that the municipal property taxes abated over the five-year period will total about $106,884, or $21,376 per year, according to a staff report.Â
The site is adjacent to the Historic Southside neighborhood and is a block north of the intersection of East Vickery Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue.
K5 Holdings plans to rehabilitate and add 28,750 square feet of storage to an existing industrial building for manufacturing and warehouse use. The company plans to spend at least $9.1 million on the property at 2000 E. Richmond Ave., located in an industrial and residential area a couple of blocks south of the intersection of East Maddox Avenue and MLK Freeway.
The city estimates that the municipal property taxes abated over the five-year period will total $459,285, or $91,857 per year, according to a staff report.
