LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A 23-year-old man and a child are dead following a crash in Martin County on Thursday night.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Mariano Molinar was driving north on SH 349 on the inside lane. A second car was driving south by 50-year-old Carlos Tijerina of Lamesa on the outside lane when Molinar made a u-turn.
Molinar crashed into the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old boy that was a passenger in Tijerina’s car was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Tijerina’s other two passengers were taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for minor and serious injuries.
DPS says Molinar was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
