EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Veterans and their family caregivers in El Paso had a chance to connect with a wide range of support services as the city partnered with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation to host what organizers described as the region’s largest Veteran and Family Caregiver Expo.
The event was held today in East El Paso to provide veterans and their caregivers with local resources and information, including caregiver assistance, health programs, and employment opportunities.
Linda Mais of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation encouraged veterans who may be unsure about their benefits to attend.
“For somebody who has never filed a claim or doesn’t understand their benefits, this is the place to be,” Mais said.
Elizabeth Rotenberry, director of caregiver engagement for the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, said the expo also aims to connect caregivers through support networks.
“We do have different networks and support systems in place for caregivers to come together to, whether it’s to bend, or to share, or to connect over a resource or a support system,” Rotenberry said.
The expo is scheduled to happen again tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Starlight Event Center.
