EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 39-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Central El Paso after authorities said he owes over $20,000 in child support.

According to the El Paso County Constable Office Precinct Three, Aurelio Castro Jr. was arrested after he reportedly didn’t go to a court hearing, ignoring the court’s child support orders and owing $22,977.42 in child support.

Deputies from the El Paso County Constable’s Office from Precinct Three received a warrant and found Castro on the 2700 block of N. Piedras St., near Kiki’s Mexican Restaurant.

Jail records show that as of Friday morning, Castro remains in jail under a $2,000 bond.

After Castro’s arrest, Constable Hector Bernal stressed that these warrants involving child support are often overlooked by law enforcement agencies and promised that his deputies would be on the lookout for them.

Furthermore, Bernal also urged people to submit tips regarding unpaid child support to the Constable Office of Precinct three at 915-273-3590 or to Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477.
