[ACCIDENT] C8 Corvette Driver Flips and Hits a Building While Evading Houston Police

Add another mid engine Corvette to the growing list of C8s no longer on the road.

An Arctic White hardtop convertible suffered heavy damage early Thursday morning when it overturned and slammed into a building following a police chase in northwest Houston. Video from the scene shows the Corvette on its roof, its front end torn apart, after the crash outside the Garden Oaks Lodge #1306 Masonic Lodge on West Little York Road.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers first spotted the Corvette around 2 a.m. speeding along West Montgomery Road and running multiple red lights. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and sped up, leading officers on a roughly five minute pursuit.

The chase ended when the Corvette apparently blew a tire—no word yet on whether the car was equipped with run flats—causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned and came to rest against the building.

Rescue crews were seen cutting off the passenger side door to reach the occupants. Both the driver and passenger, believed to be in their early 30s, were transported to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

Police said the Corvette was not stolen, but the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for aggregate felony theft and engaging in organized crime. Once the investigation is complete, the District Attorney’s Office will determine additional charges.

Video later showed the overturned Corvette being loaded onto a flatbed truck, its nose completely separated and lying on the ground beside it. A police officer inspected the wreckage, which appeared heavily damaged at both ends—another C8 likely destined for the salvage yard.

As for the lodge, the brick was damaged and a window dislodged in one section of the building, exposing an interior wall.
