Governor Greg Abbott
Governor Abbott’s order for state agencies to clear out homeless camps in Austin has not gone over well with the city. He says he took action to make Austin safer and cleaner for residents and visitors to live, travel, and conduct business. So far the state says it’s cleared about 50 encampments, removed 3-thousand pounds of debris, and made 24 felony arrests. Austin Mayor Kirk Watson says he welcomes state resources but would rather work together to address the problem.
