Plano and Aurora Christian both wrapped up their regular seasons Friday night in a high school varsity boys basketball matchup heard live on WSPY, with the Eagles earning a 69-51 victory as the Reapers finished the year with an 18-13 overall record heading into postseason play.

Aurora Christian used balanced scoring to secure the win and close its regular season at 19-7, led by Jacob Baumann’s 19 points and three steals. Zach Zappia added 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Luke Baumann contributed 13 points and a block. Preston Morel chipped in 12 points, converting 10 of 13 free-throw attempts to help seal the Eagles’ victory.

Plano was paced by Ethan Taxis and KinVaras Terrell, who scored 10 points apiece, while Cooper Beaty added eight points along with 10 rebounds and two blocks. Braylon Schmidt also finished with eight points and two steals in the loss. 

Elsewhere in varsity boys basketball action, Kaneland capped a historic regular season by finishing undefeated at 30-0 overall and 10-0 in the Interstate-8 Conference following a 76-44 win over LaSalle-Peru. Marshawn Cocroft led the Knights with 26 points, and Evan Frieders added 12 points in the victory.

Newark dropped a 68-60 contest to Bishop McNamara despite a strong all-around performance from Reggie Chapman, who scored 19 points while adding six assists, four rebounds and two steals. Cody Kulbartz recorded a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, along with four blocks and two assists, while Jimmy Kath contributed 12 points, four assists and two rebounds. Dylan Kulbartz added eight points and three rebounds for the Norsemen.

Parkview Christian Academy earned a 60-56 win over Leland behind Christian Mulder’s 17 points and six assists, along with a pair of steals. Taejon Harris added 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals, and James Jefferson posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Falcons. Leland was led by Declan Brennan, who recorded a dominant double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Gunnar Swenson added 10 points in the loss.

Serena celebrated Senior Night with a 57-46 victory over Gardner-South Wilmington.

Indian Creek fell 78-45 to Newman Central Catholic. Jason Brewer and Parker Murry each scored 10 points to lead the Timberwolves, followed by Logan Schrader with nine points and Payton Hueber with seven points.
