HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was arrested after authorities said he exchanged gunfire with deputies during an attempted burglary.

What we know:

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 14900 block of Sellers Road for a possible burglary of a business.

Deputies said on arrival a man inside the business started shooting at them. Deputies returned fire. No deputies were hurt in the exchange.

The man fled the scene and barricaded himself inside a home in the 14900 block of Henry Road. Two other adults and several young children were inside the home, deputies said.

Deputies said the two adults came out of the home, but the suspect continued to refuse commands from deputies and the children remained inside.

Deputies went inside the home to secure the children and detain the suspect.

The suspect was found with gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital with pending charges, deputies said.

What we don’t know:

The sheriff’s office did not identify the suspect.
