COLLEGE STATION — As Texas A&M baseball prepares for Game 2 of its series against Penn, it will be without one of its key players.
Aggies’ center fielder Caden Sorrell is out of Saturday’s game due to a right-hand injury.
Sorrell is out with stitches in his right hand, the result of being stepped on by a Penn fielder while he attempted to steal second base in the bottom of the seventh inning, a source close to the program told the Austin-Statesman Saturday.
Source also confirms that Sorrell’s hand is “taped and stitched up, but just believed to be a flesh wound.”
His status for Sunday’s game is uncertain at this time.
Sorrell stayed in Friday’s game after the injury and finished the night 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. The Aggies took Game 1 of the series with a walk-off hit by shortstop Boston Kellner, who is expected to bat third in Saturday’s lineup with Sorrell out of the lineup.
