LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Senator Ted Cruz was recognized on Saturday, Feb. 21, by the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association for his contributions to Laredo and the South Texas region.
The WBCA named him Mr. South Texas for his contributions to the growth of Laredo and the South Texas region.
The Mr. South Texas Selection Committee, made up of past WBCA presidents and former honorees, selected Cruz for the honor.
Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino presented him with the award today alongside city and county officials.
Cruz is the first elected Republican named Mr. South Texas and received the key to the City of Laredo in August 2025.
