ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men’s basketball (15-12, 7-8 WAC) suffered a 66-54 defeat at the hands of first-place Utah Valley (20-7, 10-4 WAC) Saturday afternoon at College Park Center. It was the final regular-season home game for the Mavericks, who finished the CPC slate 9-4.

The Wolverines went on a game-defining 15-2 run over seven minutes late in the contest to turn a 47-45 deficit into a 60-49 advantage with just 2 ½ minutes to play. UTA went the game’s final eight-plus minutes with just one made field goal.

In the first half, UTA led by as many as 11, 26-15, with 6:40 left. The Mavericks were on top 32-27 at halftime after limiting the Wolverines to less than 30 percent from the floor (11 of 37).

However, the Mavs managed just 22 points after halftime, connecting on just 7 of 23 field goals while going 7-for-16 from the free throw line. Utah Valley collected a season-best 23 offensive rebounds on the afternoon. The Wolverines held a 21-5 advantage over the Mavs in second-chance points.

Marcell McCreary finished with a team-high 14 points, his 20th double-digit scoring game of the season. Cash Chavis added 13 points and was 2-for-3 from 3-point range.

It was Senior Day for the Mavs as McCreary, Marcus Rigsby, Jr. and Raysean Seamster played their final home games at College Park Center.

The Mavs begin their three-game road trip to close the WAC regular season slate on Thursday at California Baptist (19-8, 9-5 WAC) at 9 p.m. (CT). It will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on the radio on the Varsity Network App with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours.
