AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting involving an off-duty Austin Police Department officer that occurred Friday evening.
The incident took place at a barbershop on the 1700 block of Crystal Bend Drive, where multiple 911 calls reported shots fired just after 6 p.m., according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found an adult male deceased with gunshot wounds at the scene. Another individual, who also sustained a gunshot wound, was found at a nearby residence and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a man entered the barbershop and opened fire on patrons and employees. An employee was shot and fled to a nearby residence for help. An off-duty Austin Police Department officer, present at the barbershop, returned fire and fatally struck the suspect.
