LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A woman indicted in July of 2023 in connection with a shooting case involving a police officer has pled guilty to aggravated assault against a public servant – a first-degree felony charge.
In June of 2023, police found Jewel Perez armed, banging on the door of a home. When they approached her, she refused to drop the weapon and fired at the officers. Perez was shot during the gunfire, but no officers were injured.

Perez said on the stand she had become suicidal following the death of her 15 year-old-brother, and she shot at police because she “wanted them to hurt” her so she could die.
Judge Trey McClendon handed Perez two concurrent sentences on Friday, one for 10 years in prison, and another for 20 years in prison.
