LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock-Con is marking its 10th anniversary this weekend, bringing thousands of fans together at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center for a convention centered on comic books, cosplay, gaming and fandom.
What began as a small gathering has grown into one of the largest fan conventions in Lubbock. Rey Ramos, the event coordinator for Lubbock-Con, said the convention’s goal is to have fun, impact the community and bring people together.
“So, Lubbock-Con started with a group of people who wanted to have a convention where everybody can have their fandom come together and meet other people who are like-minded, who enjoy the same fandoms,” Ramos said. “But the biggest difference between our shows and other shows is that it is a nonprofit organization, so nobody gets paid to do this — and this is our 10-year anniversary.”
Those who missed Saturday’s events can attend the second day of Lubbock-Con on Sunday at the Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
