Miller’s CJ Perry led the Corpus Christi honorees on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A all-state football team announced this week.

The senior earned second-team honors as a kick returner after scoring four special teams touchdowns this season. He also garnered third team defensive back accolades after pulling in six interceptions and totaling 85 tackles.

Veterans Memorial running back Andrew Charlebois, tackle Dylan Durbin and defensive lineman Carlo Torres were all named third team for the Eagles.

Flour Bluff tight end Ransom Watson earned third-team recognition along with Gregory-Portland’s Triston Gore (defensive back) and Ryder Harrison (punter).

The Coastal Bend had several players earn honorable mention status on the Class 5A all-state team.

Gregory-Portland’s Kali’i Leomiti (tackle), Carter Dominguez (quarterback), Cody Adame (running back), Cameron McGinnis (kicker) and Angel Reyes (defensive line) were all honorable mention.

King receiver Damon Smith, Ray defensive back Jason Gutierrez and Carroll’s Da’Shaun Porter along wth Flour Bluff’s Lucian Cruz (quarterback), Landon Green (defensive line), Anthony Mimms (defensive line) and Tristan Wilson (linebacker) earned honorable mention status.
