OBITUARY

Dr. Juanita Day, of Arlington, Texas, 71, passed away on January 26, 2026. A strong-willed and proud woman of unwavering faith, she lived a life marked by resilience and service to others. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and served as a licensed optometrist for 40 years, providing dedicated and compassionate eye care throughout her distinguished career. Throughout her professional life, she served at various retail centers and extended her expertise through medical ministry, including organizing and participating in eye care missions to Haiti, where she helped provide eye examinations and eyeglasses to more than 200 individuals. She was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her leisure time, she enjoyed keeping up with current events and cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Lee Day Sr. and Willie Mae Jackson Day; her brothers, Johnnie C. Torrence Sr., Henry Torrence, Johnnie Lee Day Jr., Willie James Day, and Stevie Lamar Day; and her identical twin sister, Veneta Day-Franklin. She leaves to cherish her memory her nephews, Johnnie Torrence, Danny Torrence, and John Franklin Jr.; her nieces, Gloria Torrence and Alicia Franklin; great-nephews, Javan Torrence, Ottis Lemons, and Marty Walker; great-nieces, Nakesha Lemons, Lashaunda Torrence, and Jasmine Walker; great-great-nieces, Evoni Lemons and Amani Walker; great-great-nephew, Marty Walker Jr.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. All services at Jerusalem Baptist Church 1741 Filmore Street. Pastor Issac Culver officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
