AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX — February 21, 2026

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Series visits the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Round seven rolls into Arlington, Texas. AT&T Stadium hosts the 250SX East riders for their first event of the year. Haiden Deegan has been running away with the 250SX West points lead. Tonight, everyone is anxious to see last year’s 250 SMX Playoff winner, Jo Shimoda, return to start the defense of his title.

The 2026 Arlington Supercross will be the 48th race held in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and 19th in AT&T Stadium.

In the 450SX class Hunter Lawrence and Eli Tomac are seperated at the top of the points standings by a single point. Lawrence, winless so far this year, has been the most consistent rider among the superstars that compete in the premier class. Eli Tomac, with three main event wins in 2026, was leading the points until taking a big spill at Glendale. His victory at Seattle brought him to within one back of Lawrence 10 points up on Ken Roczen and Cooper Webb tied for third.

Jo Shimoda(30) took the holeshot. However, the race was red flagged quickly as a big crash blocked the cross-over point of the course. Line em up and do it again. Shimoda again was first to the holeshot line on the restart. But, Seth Hammaker(10) passed Shimoda on lap one and slowly pulled away from the other riders.

Coty Schock(32) ran third, almost four seconds behind Shimoda. No one could make a move as the leaders worked to maintain the separation intervals. Pierce Brown(163) took the fourth position.

Hunter Lawrence(96) and Eli Tomac(3) raced to the holeshot line with Lawrence edging out his rival. Joey Savatgy(17) and Cooper Webb(1) battled for third. Chase Sexton(4) did not get the best of starts and was stalled back in sixth. Lawrence ran off the track allowing Tomac and Savatgy to close as the clock wound down. Neither could catch the leader, but Savatgy got around Tomac on the next to last lap to finish second.

Jo Shimoda does it again, out fast and grabs the holeshot. Cole Davies and Nate Thrasher crash in the first corner, both went down. Pierce Brown(163) runs second with Daxton Bennick(58) in third and Seth Hammaker in fourth. Jalek Swoll had a great run in the heat but went down hard early and dropped out of the main.

Jo Shimoda / Photo Credit Feld Motor Sports Inc.

Shimoda missed a jump just before the finish line and Brown caught him and passed for the lead. The two leaders pulled away from Dennick and Hammaker’s battle for the final podium spot. Shimoda stayed tight on Brown looking for the right opportunity to make the pass back for the lead. Both riders are returning from injuries. Brown missed all of last year and Shimoda injured his neck during the offseason.

Pierce Brown / Photo Credit Feld Motor Sports Inc.

With three minutes left in the timed portion of the moto, Davies had recovered to run fifth. However, he trailed Hammaker by over seven seconds and likely will not have a shot at the podium.

Brown did a better job of working through lapped traffic and increased the gap on Shimoda. Bennick had a lock on third as he increased the interval between himself and Hammaker.

Cooper Webb(1) and Ken Roczen battled for the holeshot win. Roczen rode away to the early lead. Hunter Lawrence sat in third. Both Eli Tomac(11th) and Chase Sexton(12th) got off to bad starts.

Cooper Webb / Photo Credit Feld Motor Sports Inc.

Lawrence worked his way past Webb and began pressuring Roczen for the top spot. Four minutes in, Tomac advanced to fourth and Sexton was back in ninth.

The top four all closed to within a second and a half. But, Roczen held off the charges. Finally with six minutes to go, Lawrence managed to get around Roczen. That opened the door for Webb and Tomac to take advantage of Roczen as well. Tomac went from fourth to second as he pushed his way past Roczen and Webb. Meanwhile, Lawrence was building the gap out front.

Webb settled into third and Roczen fourth. On the final lap Lawrence held off a late charge by Tomac to get his first Supercross Main Event win.

Arlington SMX Round 7 Recap

450SX: Hunter Lawrence had to have been wondering when that first Supercross win was going to come. No one gave him this race, he had to earn it. Passing one of the toughest riders on the circuit. Passing the defending series champion. and holding off the all-time best closer. He joins his brother as a Supercross Main Event winner. Hunter extended his points lead to four points over Tomac. Heading to Daytona next week, Tomac is the all-time wins leader at the World Center of Racing. What a battle should be in store.

250SX: It is interesting that two guys fighting back from injuries ended 1-2 on the night. For Pierce Brown, Arlington was his first Supercross win. He was leading the 250SX East opener last year at Tampa when he crashed over the handlebars and landed face first. Brown suffered a broken T5 vertebra and was out the entire 2026 Season. After winning the SMX 250 World Championship over Haiden Deegan, Jo Shimoda had a training crash in Florida. Shimoda suffered two fractured and displaced vertebrae in his upper back/lower neck. It will be interesting to see these two battle through the season and if any other rider can inject themselves into the Supercross title chase.

Live Coverage from The Lasco Press next week at Daytona International Speedway.
