Officials have identified the man who died Monday when a burial vault meant to enclose caskets crushed him.

Angel Anthony Rojas, 24, died at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital at about 3:24 p.m. Monday following the accident, according to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office.

The 24-year-old was taken to a hospital after he was pinned from the waist down by a burial vault at Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Ave. around 2 p.m., according to Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman.

Responding firefighters were able to use a combination of spreaders, typically used to open vehicles in accidents, and airbags to lift the vault, according to Evans.
