COMMERCE, Texas — North Texas police arrested a woman Saturday after reportedly finding her near a fire with several Molotov cocktails in her backpack, officials said.
According to the Commerce Police Department, they and the Commerce Fire Department had been investigating several fires that happened over the last couple days.Â
Overnight on Feb. 21, police said an officer saw an unreported fire at Centennial Park, and a woman was seen leaving the area.
The woman, Jamie Howell, was detained, police said, and several Molotov cocktails, incendiary bombs, were reportedly found in the backpack she was carrying. Other items police say were found include items used in building explosive devices as well as a lighter.
Howell reportedly admitted to making and testing the incendiary bombs at areas around Commerce.
Police charged her with two counts of arson and possession of a prohibited weapon.
