Kyle Potraza is responsible for ensuring Sachse residents receive the best possible protection in an emergency.

As the city’s emergency management analyst, his job is to identify residents who may need extra help during disasters and encourage them to register with the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) — a free, confidential program designed to assist those with medical or mobility challenges.

Currently, fewer than 100 Sachse residents are enrolled, but Potraza hopes that number will grow.

“People on the registry get a little extra attention from emergency responders during a crisis,” Potraza said.
