Kimberly Van Der Beek has reached out and offered support to Rebecca Gayheart in the wake of their husband’s deaths.
The “Bathroom Chronicles” podcaster’s spouse, “Dawson’s Creek” actor James Van Der Beek, died of cancer on February 11, and following Eric Dane’s passing on Thursday she shared a photograph of the quartet together to pay tribute to the “Grey’s Anatomy” star.
Kimberly posted the picture on her Instagram Story and captioned it, “RIP @realericdane. We love you @rebeccagayheartdane. Will miss our guys laughing at Christmas parties together.”
The picture was taken at the 16th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles in 2017, a charity event which raises money for Chrysalis, a non-profit organisation that helps people struggling to find work and security.
Meanwhile, Kimberly recently revealed she and James renewed their wedding vows days before the “Varsity Blues” star passed away.
Kimberly, who first married the actor in August 2010, told People magazine, “We decided two days beforehand and our friends got us new rings, filled our bedroom with flowers and candles, and we renewed our vows from bed.”
Kimberly described the ceremony, which was attended by family and a few close friends, as “simple and beautiful and moving”.
Instrumentalist Poranguí played the “most beautiful music” during the ceremony, before closing the event with a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
James’ family launched a GoFundMe page shortly after he passed away.
The page, which has already raised more than $2.5 million, explains, “James Van Der Beek was a beloved husband, father, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around him. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, James passed away on February 11, 2026 leaving behind his devoted wife, Kimberly, and their six wonderful children. Throughout his illness, the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain as they did everything possible to support James and provide for his care. In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds.
