EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso County Commissioner Sergio Coronado, who represents West El Paso from Anthony to Hondo Pass and to the New Mexico state line, is facing a primary challenge from Annette Griego in the Texas Democratic primaries.
During KFOX14 Community Conversations, Coronado was asked why voters should re-elect him and what his priorities would be if he wins another term.
He was also questioned about property taxes and what he would propose to realistically ease the burden on homeowners.
Another topic raised was concern over AI data centers in El Paso and their potential impact on local resources, including what Coronado believes needs to be done.
The interview also addressed immigration detention in the region. El Paso has been in the national spotlight over East Camp Montana at Fort Bliss, described as one of the biggest immigration detention centers in the country and located on federal land. Coronado was asked about that facility and about the possibility of another detention center in Socorro, which would fall under county jurisdiction, including what he thinks needs to be done.
