CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Evacuations have been recommended as a fire continues to burn near Mundine Road and Highway 188 in Rockport.

In an update posted to the Aransas County Office of Emergency Management Facebook page, Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Geer said the wildfire was not contained as of Monday afternoon and is spreading along Highway 188 as winds shift.

Geer said one structure is currently in danger. A reverse alert has been sent to residents in the area, and Greer recommended people nearby evacuate as a precaution.

Abbie Tijerina, a Public Information Officer with the Texas A&M Forest Service, confirmed state crews are assisting local responders in battling the blaze. Troy Poe, with the Texas A&M Forest Service, also confirmed to 3NEWS that personnel are on scene supporting firefighting efforts.

Geer also urged residents to check on friends or family who live in the area to ensure they are evacuating safely.
