Crews worked to put out a fire at an Arlington apartment complex on Monday afternoon.
Around 1:34 p.m., the Arlington Fire Department responded to reports of an apartment fire. While enroute, fire crews reported a large column of smoke visible and requested a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene.
Texas Sky Ranger could be seen coming from the 3-alarm fire at the apartment complex near Little Road and I-20 around 2 p.m.
Upon Arlington FD’s arrival, heavy fire conditions were reported on the first and second floors of the apartment building.
Crews immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack and conducted a primary search of the structure, according to Arlington Fire.
A short time later, fire was observed through the roof, prompting the request for a third alarm to ensure adequate personnel and equipment were available.
The fire was brought under control approximately 20 minutes after the first unit arrived on scene.
The apartment building consists of 16 units, one of which was vacant at the time of the incident.
Apartment management reported that 24 residents, including 19 adults and 5 children, have been displaced because of the fire. The American Red Cross has been notified and is assisting displaced residents with temporary housing and support services, according to Arlington FD.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries
