Texas Tech Health Sciences Center to host medication cleanout Saturday

  • October 23, 2025

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo will host a Medication Cleanout event this Saturday.

Area residents can drop off expired, unused or unnecessary medications at the drive-thru event.

Residents can remain in their cars while volunteers collect the medications for safe disposal.

The Medication Cleanout event will take place Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, 1300 S. Coulter St.

Medications from clinics, pharmacies, or businesses will not be accepted at the event due to environmental restrictions.

Organizers say the Medication Cleanout program was developed by the Texas Panhandle Poison Center, which serves 71 counties across the Panhandle, South Plains, and other nearby areas.

The TPPC operates a 24-hour hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
