Friday high school football games across Central Texas have moved up kickoff times due to weather, with most now starting between 5:30 and 6 p.m.
WACO, Texas — Several Central Texas high school football games are adjusting kickoff times Friday evening because of expected inclement weather.
Kickoffs originally scheduled for 7 p.m. have been moved to help teams and fans avoid potential lightning and heavy rain in the area.
Here are the affected matchups:
University vs. Waco – Waco ISD Stadium, now set for 6 p.m.
Lorena vs. Connally – Game time moved to 6 p.m.
China Spring vs. Gatesville – The varsity football game will now begin at 6 p.m. at Gatesville. School officials emphasized that this change applies to varsity football only.
Bryan Rudder vs. Belton – The game at Tiger Field has been moved up to 6 p.m. due to lightning concerns. Belton’s homecoming activities will still take place at halftime.
Midway at Killeen – Now 5:30 p.m. Friday at Leo Buckley Stadium.
East View at Chaparral – Now 6 p.m. Friday at Searles Stadium.
Shoemaker at Copperas Cove – Now 6 p.m. Friday.
