PLANO, Texas — Plano City Council advances plans for AT&T global headquarters, officials say.

The city says they plan to redevelop the former Electronic Data Systems campus to construct the new AT&T global headquarters on Legacy Drive, one of the city’s primary employment centers.

“We are honored to welcome AT&T as the newest member of our Plano business community and deeply grateful for the opportunity to support their global headquarters,” said Plano Mayor John B. Muns. “This decision reflects Plano’s commitment to safety, quality of life and a collaborative environment where companies and employees thrive. We look forward to working alongside AT&T as they grow and succeed in our community.”

Plano will also provide a performance-based economic development incentive to AT&T contingent on several offerings. The city will provide a $10 million grant for the redevelopment of the site into a 2 million square foot-campus. Plano will also offer a $1,000 job creation incentive for the transfer, retention or creation of up to 10,000 jobs. AT&T will also be offered a tax rebate on new property value for the next 25 years, according to a release.

“We are excited to build our new global headquarters in such a welcoming community dedicated to positive business growth,” said Michael Ford, head of global real estate and security, AT&T. “We look forward to continuing to work closely with Plano City leaders as we execute on our vision for a world-class campus, designed for collaboration, innovation and engagement, that our employees can be proud of for many years to come.”

The redevelopment of the site, transforming into AT&T’s new headquarters, will take several years to complete.
