It is always difficult to see a great Lubbock spot throw in the towel, especially one that I know is owned by a local. Sadly, F & F Japanese Grill is calling it quits in Lubbock. F&F opened in early 2024, meaning the eatery has been in operation for a little over two years. F&F Japanese Grill Announces Imminent Closure

F&F announced its upcoming closure on LBK Foodies. Since LBK Foodies is a private (albeit huge) group, I’ll share the text here:

Please be advised that F&F Japanese Grill’s Lubbock location will officially close its doors on March 14, 2026. Please ensure all gift cards are redeemed by this date, as we will be shutting down permanently. Thank you for your business.

Lubbock Responds To F&F’s Closure

Many Lubbock folks in the comments were upset by the loss of a fresh, fast and healthy option here in Lubbock:

Just moved to that side of town and tried your food this month for the first time. It was very good

Great owners. I wish them the best. Some of the nicest guys in the business.

Thank you for providing myself and my wife with MANY amazing meals!

The hibachi was always top-tier — but The spicy bowl will always be my favorite

Dang it, I just had them the other day and had the tofu it was the best since I moved here. Ughhhh no one else’s tofu is good… grrrr [I agree, they prepared tofu better than anywhere else I’ve ever had in Lubbock]

There’s Still A Little Time

If you have never tried F&F, now is the time to do it; perhaps we can help these folks go out on a high note. And if you have a gift card, you will want to use it up soon. F&F does have other locations in Texas, if you get hungry for it when you’re out-of-town.
