A peddler of a fake love potion, animals who play out human dramas, an icy princess finally warmed by love and a mysterious knight. With complicated infatuations, these are leading characters of the Dallas Opera’s 2026-27 season. Each opera will be sung in its original language, with English supertitles, in four performances at the Winspear Opera House.

The main-stage season begins with Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love (Oct. 9, 11, 14 and 17), about a lovesick young man, the wary object of his love and the effects of a “love potion” that turns out to be wine. Staged by Stephen Lawless in post-World War II Italy, the Santa Fe Opera production features Anthony León as Nemorino, Soraya Mafi as Adina and Alessandro Corbelli as Dr. Dulcamara. Conductor Guillermo García Calvo makes his TDO debut.

The remaining three operas will be conducted by music director Emmanuel Villaume.

Leoš Janáček‘s Cunning Little Vixen (Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, 4 and 7) features Mirjam Mesak in the title role, with Zachary Nelson as the Forester and Shannon Keegan as the Fox. Originally staged by Barrie Kosky at Bavarian State Opera, the production will be revived by Catharina von Bülow.
