AUSTIN, Texas — A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting outside a North Austin convenience store last year, police said.

Caleb Jenkins was arrested Jan. 26 in Sacramento, California, in the killing of Quinton Arnold, according to the Austin Police Department. Jenkins was extradited to Texas and booked into the Travis County Jail early Feb. 19.

According to online jail records, he is being held on a cumulative $162,000 bond.

Arnold, 37, was shot early Oct. 12, 2025, in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven at 1822 Rutland Drive.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 3:11 a.m. and found Arnold lying on the ground next to his vehicle with a gunshot wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at 4:19 a.m.

A preliminary investigation determined Arnold was standing outside the store when a vehicle pulled into the parking lot. Someone inside the vehicle opened fire, striking Arnold, before fleeing the scene, according to police.

The incident was Austin’s 47th homicide of 2025.
