Morgan James performing at Texas Tech for Presidential Lecture & Performance Series

WHAT:

Texas Tech University is continuing the 19th season of the Presidential Lecture & Performance Series (PLPS) with Morgan James.

WHEN:

7 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 26)

WHERE:

Allen Theatre, Student Union Building, 2625 15th St.

EVENT:

Morgan James is a Juilliard trained singer, songwriter, actress and recording artist based in New York City. She is touring with her sixth studio album, “Soul Remains the Same,” a concept album reimagining 1980s and 1990s rock songs through a soul lens.

James has independently released several acclaimed soul albums recorded to analog tape in Memphis and has also recorded two albums with Epic Records. Her work includes full-album reinterpretations of iconic records and an all-female “Jesus Christ Superstar.” A Broadway veteran, she has appeared in five original productions and has amassed over 300 million video views online.

The series is hosted by the Office of the President and brings world-renowned performers and artists to Lubbock each year. For 19 years, the Presidential Lecture & Performance Series has enriched the Texas Tech campus and the broader Lubbock community with exemplary talent and engaging experiences.

Created in 2006 by former Texas Tech President Jon Whitmore, the series’ mission is to enhance the intellectual and cultural landscape of not only Texas Tech but also the surrounding community.
