Water line replacements along Mount Gilead Road in Keller are scheduled to begin by Feb. 26, prompting city officials to partially close the road over the next few months.

The details

Mount Gilead Road will be closed between Robin Drive and Bancroft Road and operate as a southbound-only route as new water lines are installed, according to a city news release. Replacements should be completed by the end of May, but varied road closures will continue through June while city crews do line testing and pavement repair.

Drivers will take a detour through Bancroft Road, Bourland Road and Mount Gilead Road during the closure, according to the city.

The water line replacements include the installation of new 8- and 12-inch water mains through open trenching, pipe bursting and boring, according to city documents.

The background

Keller City Council approved the water line replacements at a city council meeting Oct. 21. Roughly $1.6 million of the $3.18 million approved will be used for Mount Gilead Road, while the other funds were used for roadwork along Pate Orr Road South, according to the city’s Public Works department.
