State Rep. James Talarico is headed to Dallas on Wednesday for his Take Back Texas Tour, where he’ll focus on voter turnout and taking billionaires and corruption out of Texas politics.
Talarico is up against U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Ahmad Hassan in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
Whoever wins on March 3 will go on to face one of the Republican candidates in November. The three most popular candidates on the Republican ballot are incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton or U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt.
Wednesday’s event starts at 7 p.m. and will go until 9 p.m. at the Longhorn Ballroom, 216 Corinth St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The Take Back Texas Tour began on the first day of early voting in Austin and has since gone to El Paso and Lubbock. Talarico is set to visit three more cities before heading to DFW. The tour will end on Election Day in Round Rock.
The event comes about a week after CBS barred Steven Colbert from broadcasting an interview with Talarico, citing Federal Communications Commission guidelines on equal opportunity for political candidates.
Crockett rallied voters in Fort Worth on Feb. 19, where she argued that she is Democrats’ best chance to defeat a Republican on the November ballot.
