The driver of a vehicle died early Wednesday morning in a crash on Interstate 35 near Dallas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood, according the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

The single vehicle crash occurred on I-35 near Illinois Avenue and Louisiana avenues, according to a social media post from deputies.

At 3:13 a.m., fire trucks blocked off lanes of the highway as the wrecked vehicle sat immobilized near the roadway median, Texas Department of Transportation cameras show.

The driver died while a passenger was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to deputies.

Deputies said in the social media post that the cause of the crash was unknown at the time. Lanes on the highway are open as of 7 a.m., according to TXDOT.
