Spring doesn’t officially start until March 20th but Mother Nature will sprinkle some spring-like weather in El Paso way before the start of Spring!
If you’ve turned on the TV recently then you’ve seen the news about recording a breaking blizzard hitting the Northeast. In New York City, parts of the city were buried under as much as 19 inches of snow and officials warn the storm could rank among the city’s 10 worst in the past 150 years.
While much of the Northeast is digging out from that historic winter blast, El Pasoans will soon be reaching for sunglasses instead of snow shovels.

Mother Nature Has Her Seasons Mixed Up in Texas
Here in El Paso it’s a completely different story compared to what’s happening in the Northeast.
We had a taste of those spring-like winds last week and then our temperatures dipped down to cooler temperatures, but Spring-like warmth is getting ready to settle into the Borderland with record-breaking temperatures possible this week.
The warming trend begins on Wednesday with sunny skies expected and afternoon highs reaching the lower 80s. Yup. 80-degree temperatures and we’re still technically in winter. Some patchy blowing dust and gusts up to 24 mph will also make an appearance on Wednesday.

El Paso Gets An Early Spring
The warm trend continues the rest of the week with afternoon highs remaining in the lower 80s Thursday and Friday, but the weekend is when things really start to heat up. (Heat up, at least for this time of the year.)
El Paso can expect afternoon highs on Saturday and Sunday to reach close to 86 degrees! On top of that, mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows will hover in the mid-50s, making for mild, comfortable evenings which I’m honestly not complaining about!
While the Northeast braces for more record breaking snow, El Paso will be enjoying patio weather. Did anyone in Texas really get to use their full winter gear this year?! And also, how does Punxsutawney Phil still have a job?! Didn’t he see his shadow and predict six more weeks of winter weather?!
