AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Joshua Baker, a 44-year-old man, who was found dead on February 21, 2026.
Officers responded to a call at 3:05 a.m. regarding a shooting at 1400 E. Rundberg Lane, where they discovered Baker, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to a press release from the Austin Police Department. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, Baker was pronounced dead at 3:16 a.m.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists are involved in the investigation, which indicates that Baker was shot by an unknown suspect who fled the scene. This incident marks Austin’s 10th homicide of 2026.
