MONTGOMERY, Texas (KTRK) — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services revoked a Houston-based company’s participation in its program after 13 Investigates heard from residents with charges on their accounts they didn’t recognize.

Over the last year, Mike Berger said he spotted RedMed Management LLC charging his Medicare for services he never received.

The company’s billing address is in Houston, according to Medicare records.

Berger’s statements show the company was billing him for a new patient visit as far back as June of last year.

“Now, how did they get my Medicare number? I don’t know,” said Berger, who lives in Montgomery.

Berger said he reported the unrecognizable charge to Medicare, but didn’t hear back from them about his concerns.

Two days after ABC13 aired the story earlier this month, CMS responded, saying the agency had taken various steps to address RedMed Management LLC’s “billing behavior” and that the company was consequently revoked from the Medicare program in January.

The address for RedMed Management shows it was located on Westpark Drive in Houston, according to Berger’s statements and Medicare’s website.

13 Investigates visited the address, but the office space was empty. Neighbors reported someone had just moved out of the space, but they were not sure who it was.

13 Investigates reached out to the company multiple times but has not been able to get ahold of anyone involved.
