A vandalized campaign sign for Texas Agriculture Commissioner candidate Nate Sheets sparks unexpected publicity in Dallas.

DALLAS — A campaign sign in Dallas for Texas Agriculture Commissioner Republican candidate Nate Sheets was seemingly vandalized, according to a photo taken by WFAA.

The sign was located at the intersection of Lemmon Avenue and Wycliff Avenue, near KFC.

A spokesperson for Sheets, when reached via email, gave this response:

“Our opponent thought he was being clever but judging by the calls and texts we’ve received Texans think it’s pretty funny. In a down ballot race name recognition matters and our critics are helping make the name ‘Nate Sheets’ more memorable,” a statement from the Sheets campaign read in part.

There was not any indication that the vandalized the sign had any connection to his opponent, incumbent Sid Miller.

Miller is popular with Donald Trump, who once called him his “man in Texas.” Despite that, Miller has faced and survived several political scandals. He is running for a third term as Texas Agriculture Commissioner.

Sheets founded a honey company called Nature Nate’s that sells across the country. He surpassed Miller in fundraising, considers himself a Trump conservative and in a rare and surprise move, Gov. Greg Abbott endorsed Sheets over Miller, WFAA previously reported.

In November 2025, WFAA spoke with Miller about running for a fourth term and running against Sheets.

“He’s not really an ag guy. He doesn’t have an ag background. He’s kind of a one trick pony. He’s a honey distributor and that’s about his only connection to agriculture,” Miller told us on Inside Texas Politics.

Sheets told WFAA in October 2025, “Texans are ready for change.”

“We can grow better food, grow food better, and rebuild the strength of our farms and families—but only with leadership that puts Texans first,” Sheets told us on Inside Texas Politics. That’s why I’m running. It’s time to Make Agriculture Healthy Again.”

Early voting for the Texas primaries ends on Friday, Feb. 27. Election Day is March 3.
