COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – No. 15 Texas A&M softball returns to Davis Diamond after two weeks on the road, and one of the teams at the Texas A&M Invitational is head coach Trisha Ford’s alma mater, Saint Mary’s.
“I think it’ll be good to see Saint Mary’s here, and I appreciate them coming all the way out here,” Ford said. “It means a lot to me for them to come out, and we get to show off Davis Diamond — that’s where I got my coaching career started as well. So, at like 22, I was an assistant coach.”
Ford broke several school records at Saint Mary’s, some of which still stand today, including single-season batting average and doubles in 1998. She is the program’s all-time career leader in hits with 230 and doubles with 62.
She served as a coach at Saint Mary’s in 2002 and 2003 and was later inducted into the Saint Mary’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
Texas A&M will face Saint Mary’s on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Aggies also welcome Houston, Kennesaw State, and Louisiana this weekend.
