HORIZON CITY, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Two people were arrested Monday night in Horizon City and charged with endangering an elderly person after police said they found drug paraphernalia in the home.
According to the Horizon City Police Department, Roel Contreras, 46, and Nancy Altamirano, 43, were arrested after officers responded to a possible domestic verbal incident in the 17000 block of Darrington Road, near the Horizon Golf Course.
Officers said that when they tried to do a welfare check on the elderly person, they spoke with Contreras, who identified himself as the caretaker.

While doing the welfare check, officers described seeing drug paraphernalia, such as glass pipes with methamphetamine residue and then finding Altamirano with the elderly person hiding in a bedroom.
According to jail records, both Contreras and Altamirano were booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail and charged with abandoning or endangering a child, elderly individual or disabled individual, with a bond set at $2,000.
Jail records list that Contreras posted a personal recognizance bond, but no date was posted showing that he was released.
