The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., was No. 1 in the world. Also making the top 20 from the U.S. are Cleveland Clinic (No. 3), Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (No. 5), Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore (No. 6), Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (No. 14), and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston (No. 18).
Local hospitals did make the list of the best hospitals in the United States. St. David’s Medical Center was No. 163; Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock was No. 208, and Ascension Medical Center was No. 259
St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has been named a Leading Laboratory by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. It’s the first laboratory in Texas to get that designation and one of only seven in the U.S. that hold the three-year recognition. The designation is for laboratories that show an exceptional focus on quality and patient outcomes.
St. David’s Surgical Hospital earned a Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification from the from the Joint Commission, which oversees hospital certifications.
